HOLTER MONITOR

A small wearable device (EKG monitor) that keeps track of your heart rhythm. The monitor collects any abnormal rhythms the patient may be experiencing.

WHAT TO EXPECT: The holtor monitor is typically worn for 24 to 48 hours depending on the physician’s orders. The device should not be removed during the monitoring process – no showering or getting wet so the patient should shower prior to coming in. You will be given a diary to document any unusual symptoms during the time that you are wearing the holter monitor – this helps us correlate the symptoms with the EKG. The monitor should be returned the next day, not at the time of your appointment to allow enough time for the results to be processed and interpreted. It takes approximately 15 minutes to put the holter monitor on in the office.
