Sally Watkins

DNP, AGACNP

Sally graduated in 2018 from Augusta University (formerly the Medical College of Georgia) with her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) and Adult and Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) degree. She obtained her nursing degree from Augusta University and her bachelors from The University of Georgia. Prior to pursuing her DNP/AGACNP degrees, Sally worked in the cardiac surgical ICU at Emory University Hospital for 7 years.

Sally’s passion for medicine started at a young age - she was inspired by her grandparents (an OBGYN and a RN) as well as her father, a local General Surgeon. It was through accompanying her father on his Sunday morning rounds that she got her first glimpse of the importance and need for good nursing care. In eight-grade, her father experienced a horseback riding accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down. During the many months spent at the Shepard Center in Atlanta, she witnessed firsthand how much of an impact nurses made on their patients’ recoveries. It was here that Sally realized her calling to become a nurse. Sally’s abundance of patience, gregarious attitude and compassion for the not only the patient but their family makes her the perfect addition to Dr. Darrah’s team.

She and her husband, Tommy, have two little girls – Mims and Eliza Chance. They are excited to be back home in Columbus, closer to her parents, four sisters and nieces. When Sally isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her big family, being outside and long walks with friends!
